What the role looks like
We are seeking an Occupancy Specialist to assist with qualifying applicants in the Affordable Department. The role is based in our New York City office and reports directly to the Director of Affordable Housing.
What you will do
- Screen applications and conduct phone interviews
- Review and verify all income and assets documentation from the application checklist
- Maintain, update and purge property waiting lists
- Review applicant's files and determine eligibly
- Follow HUD, HPD and Section 8 guidelines.
- Assist various Departments with performing and overseeing audits and special projects for Beam portfolio.

- Doing any, or all of that, in a multi-family environment would be good too.
Your skills and experience
- High school diploma or GED required; an associate degree or bachelor's degree
- 1 to 3 years of experience in property management affordable housing programs or administrative clerical work.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Strong verbal communication, sharp attention to detail, and a tactful approach to customer service
