We are expanding our leadership team and are seeking a Controller to support our operational and financial platform growth. This role reports directly to the President and fractional CFO and offers a broad range of responsibilities, with primary leadership oversight in financial operations.
As the Controller, you will play a key role in building and integrating our financial systems, leverage QuickBooks Enterprise as the central platform for sales tracking, inventory management, expense control, budgeting, and forecasting across two entities.

- At least 4 years of experience as a Controller, ideally within a manufacturing environment with inventory management responsibilities.
- A solid understanding of GAAP.
- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Enterprise.

Location
Ideally, you are in or near Colorado’s Grand Valley. However, we are open to considering a remote arrangement for the right candidate. Regular travel to Grand Junction will be required.

Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Operations Leadership
- Maintain accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial systems, including policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Prepare monthly financial reports for review with ownership.
- Ensure all financial records are compliant, audit-ready, and securely maintained.
- Manage accounts payable and execute vendor payments through Tipalti.
- Coordinate with outsourced bookkeeping partners to ensure timely and accurate books.
- Work with external accounting firm on tax preparation and filings.
- Administer payroll using Justworks.
- Oversee sales tax compliance through AccurateTax
- Partner with senior leadership and the Board to support financial planning and strategic decision-making.
2. Project & Process Development
- Finalize QuickBooks Enterprise (QBE) migration including chart of accounts review.
- Develop and implement an integrated QBE inventory management system.
- Create and document new QBE financial workflows and SOPs.
- Build advanced company budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
- Support creation and refinement of purchasing SOPs.
3. Corporate Compliance & Administration
- Ensure all corporate entities remain in good standing with applicable regulatory agencies.
- Prepare and file annual corporate reports.
- Assist in managing corporate insurance policies and renewals.
4. Regulatory & Tax Compliance
- Ensure timely and accurate tax filing and payment.
- Conduct periodic internal compliance reviews or mock audits, as needed.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, auditing standards, and tax requirements.
- Proven ability to design and implement efficient workflows and standard operating procedures.
- Advanced Excel skills, including complex modeling and data analysis.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective project planning and project management abilities.
- Able to work collaboratively across a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience supporting or participating in leadership or personal development programs is a plus.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and CPA required;
- Master’s degree in Finance or MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of financial operations leadership experience.
- Minimum of 3 years developing and managing budgets and forecasts.
- Experience managing a team of 2–3 or more employees.
- Solid working knowledge of GAAP.
- Preferred: Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Enterprise, particularly with inventory system implementation.
- Direct experience developing or managing manufacturing inventory systems.
- Experience working with online retail and e-commerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, Amazon).
- Broad understanding of regulatory compliance in a growth-stage environment.
Pay: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
