SUMMARY
The Fabricator is responsible for the fabrication of awnings, signs, or related products for residential, commercial, and industrial establishments. The Fabricator will review prints, cut material to the appropriate dimensions, use welding techniques and processes, and ensure compliance with quality, and safety while meeting defined deadlines.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyze work orders to complete welding projects, calculate requirements, study metals, determine layouts, and assemble awning frames.
- Fabricate awnings by using equipment to cut, burn, and weld pieces.
- Verify welding results by inspecting and testing welds to assure quality.
- Document actions by completing records.
- Weld assemblies for new products and change to existing products per engineering documents and established production standards.
- Operate other necessary equipment and perform tasks necessary to complete parts to specifications.
- Prepare and set up necessary tools and equipment for welding jobs.
- Keep equipment operating by following operating procedures, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance by informing the supervisor of needed repairs.
- Report fabrication issues and assist in resolutions as required.
- Perform shop floor duties such as stapling, packaging, shipping, and loading if needed.
- Operate forklift, load, and unload material.
- Maintain accurate inventory in the fabrication department.
- Use required equipment such as sheer, bender, drill press, saw, angle grinder, hydraulic press, and other hand tools as needed.
- Maintain a clean working environment.
- Be able to read and build from in-house drawings.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attend company meetings as required.
- Attend training, conferences, etc. as related to job duties and as time and budget permits.
- Observes all policies and procedures of the company including policies on confidentiality and safety.
- Special projects or tasks as assigned by the manager that may fall outside the scope of normal job duties.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1-2 years of experience in welding and fabrication with certification preferred.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to work well in a team setting and independently.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships.
- An analytical mind with good organizational skills.
- Experience in reading prints, hand tools, and power tools is required.
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately.
- Previous welding experience is preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Production floor, climate and non-climate controlled.
- Bending, twisting, stooping, and working overhead.
- Lifting up to 100 pounds.
