Kitchen Helper - Beadle Middle - 7:30am - 2:00pm (Mon-Fri)

Kitchen Helper at Beadle Middle School ~ 10 month position - 6 hours per day!

Title: Middle School Kitchen Helper

Reports to: Kitchen Manager and/or Production Lead

General Summary: Assists with the preparation, serving, and cleanup of food for students.

Essential Functions:

1. Performs assigned duties associated with the preparation of meals. Cooks and bakes food, prepares individual portions, and performs other food preparation duties as assigned.(45%)
2. Cleans equipment used, including utensils, dishes, mixers, and machines. Performs general cleaning duties in the kitchen. (25%)
3. Performs miscellaneous food service duties as assigned, including acting as a cashier for lunch (secondary only), putting machines together, counting money, ordering and putting away supplies, and securing food in containers for shipment to other school kitchens. (20%)
4. Serves prepared food to students. (10%)
5. Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
6. Able to interact with students, building staff, kitchen staff and supervisors in a positive manner.

Qualifications:

1. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
2. Experience in high-volume food preparation and serving is desired. School kitchen experience is preferred.
3. Required upon hire to take Food Handlers Class within 30 days of employment.
4. Other requirements:

•         Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, students, and others.
•         Ability and willingness to follow work instructions in all areas of foodservice and maintain a positive attitude toward the foodservice program.
•         Ability to report to work on time and notify manager at the earliest possible time when unable to work.
