Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess experience in emergency medical services with a strong commitment to providing exceptional patient care in high-pressure situations. This role involves responding promptly to emergency calls, providing pre-hospital care, and supporting advanced life support providers. The EMT will play a vital role in ensuring patient safety and delivering life-saving interventions with professionalism and compassion.
Responsibilities
- Respond rapidly to emergency calls and assess patient conditions using comprehensive triage techniques.
- Provide immediate medical care including airway management, vital signs monitoring, and basic life support (BLS).
- Administer medications and perform skills as required within scope of practice.
- Conduct thorough physical examinations and patient assessments to determine appropriate treatment plans.
- Operate emergency medical equipment efficiently during treatment and transport.
- Communicate effectively with hospital staff regarding patient status and treatment provided.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all medical interventions, assessments, and patient information.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and infection control standards at all times.
- Assist in the maintenance of ambulance inventory, including medication administration supplies and medical devices.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Possess a valid New York State Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification and maintain current BLS Healthcare Provider CPR certification
- Minimum of one year of experience as an EMT, with demonstrated ability to provide emergency medical care in a fast-paced environment
- Hold a valid New York State driver's license with a minimum of three years of driving experience
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and work collaboratively in a team environment
- Physical capability to lift and move patients weighing up to 125 pounds
- Proficiency in basic computer skills, including data entry and software applications
- Ability to drive safely under urgent conditions.
