Direct Service Professional LEAD

The Direct Service Professional Lead is responsible for assisting the Program Manager and or Program Coordinator with oversight of the day to day, hands on operation of the community living home and the sound clinical and ethical habilitations of the individuals in our care.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma with experience working directly with persons with disabilities. Preferred education
- Associate’s degree and 1 year of work experience working directly with persons with disabilities or;
- 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university and 1 year of work experience working directly with persons with disabilities
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License with 3years driving experience and acceptable driving record as determined by Motor Vehicle Report and insurance guidelines.
The Direct Service Professional Lead is responsible for assisting the Program Manager and or Program Coordinator with oversight of the day to day, hands on operation of the community living home and the sound clinical and ethical habilitations of the individuals in our care.
- Assists residential leadership with daily operation of residence through direct service activity corresponding with Individual Service Plans and staff supervision when the Program Manager is not available.
- Responsible to ensure home licensing compliance.
- Assists Manager when crisis situations arise.
- Assists program staff in following correct crisis procedures.
- Practices safe and sound crisis prevention and intervention strategies by promoting and teaching the use of preventative strategies.
- May assist Program Manager in the review of incident reports for completeness before giving final reports to Program Coordinator.
- May assist the Program Manager with reviewing all daily documentation as needed following up the Program Manager and or program leadership as necessary.
- In the absence of a Program Manager the DSP Lead may be asked to complete psychiatric review forms for psychiatric appointments.
- Assists the Program Manager in conducting fire drills monthly and as needed and completes fire drill record.
- Completes all necessary documentation prior to end of shift including all staff resident and unusual incident reports.
- Implements all policy and procedures of Keystone; holds staff accountable for their actions and implements disciplinary action when necessary.
- Communicates regularly with Program Manager and or Designee to ensure continuity of care.
- Attends professional meetings as needed to represent an individual and KCR.
- Schedules, attends, and transports clients to appointments including medical, counseling, court, supervised visitation, psychiatric appointments etc.
- Promotes a safe and caring environment where individuals can learn and grow while enjoying a healthy and productive lifestyle.
- Supports residential activities such as maintaining of resident’s personal belonging, organizing and selecting appropriate outfits for work and recreation, involves individuals in community activities and events to enhance community living.
- Understands internal and external policies and follows employee rules of conduct and performance as set forth by Keystone;
- Promotes community awareness by demonstrating responsible, courteous behavior and a positive perception of individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Annually meets regulatory and agency in-service training requirements.
- Other duties may be delegated to the Direct Service Professional Lead as deemed necessary under the guidance of the Program Manager and or Program Coordinator.
- Community Living Home environment, which includes community and recreational activities.
- May experience exposure to body fluids and the need to provide personal, private care to individuals.
- Shifts may vary depending on staffing needs. Keystone is a 24-hour / 7 day per week facility.
- Work as scheduled during inclement weather conditions.
- Driving is required.
- Must be able to lift and transfer 50 pounds using proper body mechanics 6-12 times hourly
- Must be able to carry 50 pounds for at least 20 feet
- Must be able to climb and descend 20 stairs carrying 20 pounds
- Must be able to bend to retrieve an object at floor level 6-12 times hourly
- Must be able to readily change direction while walking
- Must be able to run a distance of 100 ft. 1-2 times hourly
- Must be able to walk a distance of one mile
- Must be able to crouch at the knees 6-12 times hourly
- Must be able to kneel on both knees
- Must be able to drive for a period of one hour 3-6 times daily
- Must be able to stand for a period of one hour 6-12 times daily
- Must be able to sit for a period of one hour 6-12 times daily
- Must be able to push/pull 10 pounds
- Must be able to grasp an object with at least one hand
- Must have at least 20/40 combined vision with or without corrective lenses
- Must be able to hear a normal spoken voice with or without hearing assistance
- The Direct Service Professional Lead has access to the protected health information of people in the agency’s care. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act
- General Professional confidentiality is expected at all times both within the company and with other agencies.
- Read, write, and speak the English language in order to perform job duties.
- Follow written and/or verbal instructions.
- Able to utilize Computer for major job functions such as payroll, finances, email, scheduling, etc.
- Perform basic Mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
