Job description: The BEACON Senior Newspaper is looking for a passionate and outgoing Account Executive to assist with building the company’s brand by identifying and securing new business, creating and sustaining long-term relationships, providing support and serving as the point of contact for our clients. Candidates must have effective communication and negotiation skills, self-confidence and good judgment. Account Executives report to the Sales Manager and collaborate with other departments to produce an award-winning publication. Candidates must be proficient in current Windows software, Microsoft office, Gmail and browsing the Internet. The ideal candidate strives for quality and is passionate about the BEACON and its readers, and has a strong sales background.
Primary job functions:
- Responsible for communicating effectively as the liaison between clients and company departments (graphics, sales, editorial, accounting, etc.) and conflict resolution
- Discuss and identify client goals and propose appropriate solutions during sales presentations
- Negotiate and close contracts
- Follow company’s sales process to gain client approval and prepare ads for publication
- Cultivate prospects from company list, cold calling and scheduling meetings
- Nurture existing client relationships to maintain customer loyalty
- Proofread advertisements for errors in copy, including spelling, punctuation, grammar and accuracy of information
- Responsible for tracking all account activities, maintaining account records, history and reports
- Suggest innovative ideas and new projects to target new customers and increase sales
- Plan, develop and execute sales strategies to meet sales goals
- Attend training sessions, meetings, conferences and trade shows
- Professionally represent company at events and conferences
- Adapt to new ideas and processes, and keep up to date with current requirements and innovations within the field
Position qualifications:
- At least 1 year of prior sales or customer service experience desirable
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective team player
- Ability to multitask in a sometimes fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills
Travel: Candidates must have reliable transportation.
Compensation: Starting hourly base plus starting commission rate
