Peri-Operative Blood Management Technologist
Location: Memorial Hospital of South Bend
Reports to: Director of Perfusion or designee

Join our expert surgical team and play a key role in supporting life-saving procedures as a Peri-Operative Blood Management Technologist. In this dynamic role, you’ll provide critical support during open heart surgeries, trauma procedures, and orthopedic operations by managing cell saver equipment and assisting with peri-operative blood management.

What You’ll Do

• Support perfusionists during open-heart surgeries and maintain accurate intraoperative records.

• Operate cell saver equipment for vascular, orthopedic, trauma, and cardiac procedures.

• Assist with inventory management and equipment readiness (IABPs, transducers, etc.).

• Handle PRP processing for orthopedic and vascular cases, as needed.

• Clean and maintain all relevant equipment; ensure accurate documentation.

• Respond to emergency or on-call needs within the required response time (30 minutes).

• Support daily/weekly controls for the HMS system and maintain compliance documentation.

• Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure smooth and safe procedural flow.

What You Bring

• At least 1 year of college education or equivalent experience in a healthcare setting.

• BLS certification (must be maintained).

• Peri-Operative Blood Management Technologist certification (or ability to obtain within 1 year).

• Exceptional judgment, attention to detail, and ability to remain calm under pressure.

• Comfort with medical equipment, data entry systems, and safety protocols.

• Strong interpersonal communication skills to work effectively with patients and team members.
