What are the responsibilities and job description for the DSP (Direct Support Professional) position at Beacon Harbor Homes Inc?
The position of Direct Care Staff is responsible for the implementation of daily routines, consumer programming and Treatment Plans. Direct Care Staff is also responsible for consistent and appropriate interaction, guidance and direction of all consumers receiving services. Direct Care Staff will be accountable for the daily operation to both the Assistant Home Coordinator and Home Coordinator.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED.
- Must be able to complete required reports and follow written and oral instructions that are related to the care and supervision of consumers.
- Must be able to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of each consumer.
- Must be capable of handling emergency situations.
- Must have completed or will complete DCH training requirements taught by a Community Mental Health provider in required time frame.
- Must be competent in the following areas: Reporting requirements
- First Aid
- CPR
- Personal Care, Supervision and Protection of Consumers
- Recipient Rights
- Safety and Fire Prevention
- Prevention and containment of communicable diseases
- Must be in such physical and mental health so as not to negatively affect either the health of a consumer or the quality of the consumer’s care; and must be able to lift, push, pull and/or carry a minimum of 30 pounds.

- To utilize your training acquired and resources available to you to provide quality service to all Beacon Harbor consumers and contractual agencies.
- To provide increased quality of life, safety and security to all Beacon Harbor consumers.
- To increase consumer independence, normalization and integration into the community.
- To implement programming provided by Beacon Harbor.
- To be familiar with consumer histories, treatment plans, case managers, responsible agencies, guardians, medications and allergies.
- To consistently and accurately document consumer’s daily activities and behaviors in progress notes and behavioral tracking sheets.
- To attend all staff meetings and in-services
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
