About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and patient-focused Optometric Technician to join our team at our well-established private practice. In this role, you will support the optometrist by performing preliminary testing, assisting with patient care, performing special testing as ordered.
Ensuring smooth and efficient clinic experience.
Key Responsibilities
· Welcome patients and prepare them for eye examinations
· Collect patient medical history and update records
· Perform preliminary tests (visual acuity, auto-refraction, tonometry, visual field screening, Optomap, etc.)
· Perform specialty testing (threshold visual fields, optical coherence tomography)
· Educate patients on contact lens use, care, and insertion/removal
· Maintain and sanitize equipment and exam rooms
· Support front desk tasks as needed (scheduling, check-in/out, insurance verification)
· Triaging patients who call with urgent problems
· Ensuring referrals are submitted to our ophthalmology colleagues
Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent required
· Previous experience in an optometry or healthcare setting preferred
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills
· Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
· Basic computer skills and familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
· Certification (e.g., CPO, ABO) is a plus but not required
· Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially
