About The Role

The Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in the healthcare team, ensuring that patients receive high-quality care in a timely manner. This position involves a combination of clinical and administrative tasks that support the efficient operation of the medical office. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for preparing patients for examinations, assisting healthcare providers during procedures, and managing patient records. Additionally, they will perform essential tasks such as taking vital signs, drawing blood, and processing specimens. Ultimately, the Medical Assistant contributes to a positive patient experience and the overall effectiveness of healthcare delivery. Please note that this position would require some weekend work (Saturdays).

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a medical assistant training program.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in a medical office.
  • Knowledge of electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Bilingual skills in English and another language.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examinations by taking medical histories and vital signs.
  • Assist healthcare providers during examinations and procedures.
  • Perform phlebotomy and specimen processing as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of medical instruments and equipment.
  • Manage administrative tasks such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and maintaining patient records.

The required skills of medical assisting, phlebotomy, and vital signs monitoring are essential for daily patient interactions and clinical procedures. Proficiency in using medical instruments ensures that the Medical Assistant can assist healthcare providers effectively during examinations. Skills in specimen processing and sterilization are critical for maintaining a safe and hygienic environment in the medical office. Additionally, strong communication skills are necessary for answering phones and scheduling appointments, ensuring that patients feel welcomed and informed.
