Our client, a University of Arizona-affiliated non-profit advancing defense and security research by connecting faculty and research teams with funding opportunities and public-private partnerships, is seeking an IT Technician to manage and protect classified and unclassified systems.
Reporting to the Director of Security, IT, and Facilities, you'll work closely with leadership and the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) to ensure networks and systems remain secure, compliant, and fully operational.
This role is ideal for someone with strong technical expertise, knowledge of defense priorities, and the ability to navigate complex security requirements, all while contributing directly to the organization's mission: To deliver superior technical, analytic, and innovative products, services, and solutions to national security challenges from government and industry, extending the brand and impact of the University of Arizona.
What You'll Do
- Operate, maintain, and secure classified information systems (S, TS/SCI) across NIPRNet, SIPRNet, and JWICS networks.
- Establish, document, and monitor the Information Systems (IS) Security Program, ensuring compliance with NISPOM, CUI/CMMC, and SCI requirements.
- Conduct system self-inspections, document vulnerabilities, and drive corrective actions.
- Interpret DoD directives, manuals, and technical guidance into local IT security policies and procedures.
- Manage system controls, documentation (eMASS, SSPs, ATOs), and maintain Authority to Operate (ATO) status.
- Perform the functions of a DCSA information systems security officer (ISSO) and serve as the alternate ISSM.
- Assist the ISSM with maintaining the certification of the CMMC L2 CUI enclave.
- Collaborate with Authorizing Officials, Program Managers, and compliance inspection teams to negotiate and implement security controls.
- Support VOIP, video collaboration systems, and IT infrastructure as needed.
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Bachelor's degree plus 3–5 years of IT experience.
- Current Top Secret/SCI eligibility or ability to obtain clearance.
- Security certification (CISSP preferred) or ability to achieve within 12 months.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of an integrated team.
Preferred:
- DoD 8140-compliant professional certification.
- Advanced degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
- Experience with classified IT systems, eMASS, DAAPM, and SCI authorizations.
- Hands-on experience with CMMC Level 2 implementation/certification.
- Active Top Secret/SCI clearance.

- Location: Onsite in Tucson, AZ 85713.
- Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:00–5:00 with occasional adjustments to support customer needs.
