About the Role
We are seeking a reliable, hardworking Directional Drilling Laborer to support our horizontal directional drilling (HDD) crews in daily field operations. This role is essential for maintaining a safe, efficient, and productive jobsite. No HDD experience is required—just strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and ability to work in outdoor construction environments.
Key Responsibilities

Assist the HDD drill operator and locator with daily drilling operations

Set up, clean, and maintain jobsite work areas

Load, unload, and organize tools, materials, and drilling equipment

Mix drilling fluids and assist with mud system maintenance

Operate basic construction tools (shovels, wrenches, pipe wrenches, etc.)

Pothole utilities using vacuum excavation or hand-dig methods
-
Pull, lay, and prep conduit, pipe, and cable
-
Assist with tracking drill head, maintaining bore path accuracy

Perform daily equipment inspections and report issues

Maintain strict adherence to safety procedures and PPE requirements

Support restoration of jobsite (backfill, compaction, cleanup)
Required Qualifications

Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required)

Ability to lift 50–75 lbs consistently

Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
-
Reliable transportation and consistent attendance

Ability to follow direction and work as part of a team

Experience in construction, utilities, or drilling is a plus
Preferred Skills

Knowledge of HDD processes

Experience with vacuum excavation

Mechanical aptitude for equipment maintenance

Experience using hand tools and power tools
Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Outdoor work in heat, cold, rain, mud, and uneven terrain

Frequent bending, lifting, kneeling, climbing in/out of equipment

Long days, occasional overtime, early mornings, and travel as needed

Schedule

Occasional weekends based on project demand

Travel may be required depending on jobsite locations
Qualifications:
- Have the physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
- Lift and carry up to 80 pounds and push and/or pull 50-pound loads at a time.
- Work in all weather conditions.
- Stand and walk up to ten hours per day and climb multiple sets of stairs while carrying materials weighing between 40 and 60 pounds.
- Hold a valid driver’s license and maintain a safe driving record.
- Listen, understand, and follow directions.
- Remain flexible as specific assignments change.
- Work with a variety of personalities.
- Perform basic arithmetic as needed to count and take inventory.
