The Manufacturing Line Technical Specialist provides Production line support which helps to keep the line running safely, efficiently, and within quality targets. This position also includes process optimization to improve cycle times, throughput and yield.

Roles And Responsibilities

  • Responsible for day-to-day management of all production-line tools and equipment:
    • Receives and addresses requests for equipment support via ticket system
    • Manages reference boards
    • Calibrates equipment and performs other preventative maintenance on equipment, according to a predetermined schedule
    • Updates equipment maintenance records and other documentation according to the BEA Industrialization standards
    • Manages on-hand stock of spare parts for equipment
    • Updates equipment in the event of a new product part number or version
  • Supports IT to upgrade equipment and computers during network policy changes
  • Provides support remotely for external parts suppliers who possess BEA equipment to troubleshoot and repair said equipment
  • Regularly gathers feedback from operators about ease of use and reliability of equipment
    • Performs minor modifications to improve equipment
    • Recommends more significant design improvements to the Industrialization Design team and works with the Design team to incorporate improvements

  • Supports the transfer of manufacturing lines for existing products:
    • As needed, builds clones of existing equipment
    • Prepare and conduct test plans to validate the new clones
    • Sets up tools and equipment and verifies their correct functioning
    • Leads Beta run, working with other departments, to prove the new line
    • Provides training and support for operating the tools and equipment
  • Supports New Product Development (NPD):
    • Assists the Industrialization Design team with the development of new equipment
    • Support Beta and Pilot runs
    • As needed, works with other departments (Operations, Quality) to improve process efficiency

    Competencies

    Requirements

    Degree(s) or certification(s):

    Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics or Associate’s Degree in Electronics with additional years of experience

    Recertification Needed

    Professional experience required:

    Minimum 3 Years Of Experience (Bachelor’s Degree)

    Minimum 5 years of experience (Associate’s degree)

    Technical Skills

    • Basic mechanical skills are required
    • Ability to read an electrical schematic and relate with PCB layout is required
    • Ability to read and interpret code is required
    • Ability to troubleshoot electronics is required

    IT Proficiency
  • Basic computer skills are required:
    • Ability to install and modify software applications and related drivers
    • Keen understanding of Windows file structure and ability to debug file-related issues
  • Knowledge of registry, network, domain, and other IT principles is a plus
  • Strong expertise in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, is required

  • Excellent written skills are required, as all troubleshooting, modifying, and improving efforts to equipment must be documented
  • Strong verbal communication skills are required, as other departments must be notified of all changes to equipment
    • Including initiating the conversation; does not wait to be asked for a status update
    • Keeps meeting minutes and notes

  • Demonstrated capability as a self-starter in a hands-on environment
  • Strong organizational skills are required; including maintaining a neat working environment, both physically (his or her own desk and common areas) and virtually (emails, files, etc.)
  • Ability to independently manage his or her own schedule is required, in order to plan multiple efforts in parallel
  • Strong initiative is required, both independently and with others:
    • Natural curiosity; independently seeks knowledge by tinkering, reviewing available documentation, etc.
    • Also seeks knowledge by initiating interaction with colleagues, mentors; asks good questions
    • Strong listening skills and ability to absorb new information
