Specialty Vehicle Technician
Full Time
$20-$30/hour
8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday through Friday
Nimbl Vehicles is an all-purpose specialty vehicle shop in Grass Valley, CA, specializing in service, repair, install, and fabrication for overland adventure and emergency response vehicles.
We're looking for a technician to join our team
Currently, we're hiring for a single position, to get started immediately .
What we do:
- Deliver high-quality technical support for existing overland vehicles.
- Service and install Webasto and Eberspächer fuel-operated heaters.
- Install field-ready plumbing, power systems, and solar charging capability.
- Provide ongoing support for Nimbl Evolution expedition truck campers.
- Outfit incident command vans, compact mobile command vans, emergency response trucks, and patrol vehicles.
- Custom aluminum fabrication.
- Assorted troubleshooting and repair.
Our work varies considerably between projects, and incorporates a wide range of technical disciplines, including wiring, plumbing, carpentry, and aluminum fabrication. Because we do custom work for specialized vehicles, we are often learning and designing as we go.
It's what sets us apart as a shop, and one of the primary challenges we face as a team, so above all we're looking for someone ready to learn, design, and adapt on a regular basis.
Necessary Skills and Experience:
- Machine and power tool operation (drills, drivers, grinders, saws, etc).
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
- Basic math and measurement skills.
- Knowledge and experience with mechanical, AC/DC electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Physically stand, walk, crouch, bend, kneel, climb, lift up to 50lbs.
- Comfortable learning new techniques, skills, and systems quickly.
We'd Love to See:
- Experience working on overland or public safety vehicles specifically.
- Welding experience (especially TIG and aluminum).
- Knowledge of CNC router table operation.
Basic Responsibilities:
- Communicate and coordinate effectively with other team members.
- Plan, complete, and document tasks, alongside other team members.
- Read and interpret instructions, drawings, diagrams, and manuals.
- Plan, design, cut, fasten, assemble, wire, and more with a variety of materials and components.
- Follow safety standards and shop policies.
- Help maintain a safe, organized, and effective shop environment.
- Communicate with customers about incoming and active projects.
