What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth + Mentors = Success! position at Be A Mentor, Inc. (SF Bay Area)?
The Be A Mentor Program pairs caring adult volunteers from the community with youth in one-to-one relationships. Mentors give of their time to be a friend, answering questions, and providing guidance. Mentors come from a variety of backgrounds and occupations and volunteer their personal time to be a caring friend to a youth. They serve as a role model, advocate, and resource. The purpose of the mentoring relationship is to help youth develop their full potential, both in and outside of the classroom.

This is an in-person group mentoring program where you will spend time with your mentees exploring, talking, and learning about them. You might play basketball together, work on homework, or just try new foods.
Many of the youth we serve have never had an adult really listen and care for them until they get a mentor. Often, they feel the world is against them. We believe in the potential of every child, and mentoring as a tool to help youth succeed.
We ask that you commit to a minimum of one hour a week for a full year.. Our project and site coordinators will be available for support throughout the program.
