Logistics Coordinator – LTL & Bulk Transportation

The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day execution and management of customer shipments across Less-than-Truckload (LTL) and Bulk transportation modes throughout North America. This role serves as a critical operational point of contact between customers, carriers, internal operations teams, and brokerage partners to ensure efficient shipment execution, proactive communication, and high service levels.

This position requires strong transportation knowledge, operational problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. The Logistics Coordinator will support shipment scheduling, carrier coordination, routing guide compliance, shipment visibility, issue resolution, and transportation optimization initiatives while maintaining a high level of customer service.

The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and communication skills, transportation operational experience, and a proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Shipment Execution & Transportation Coordination

· Coordinate and manage LTL and Bulk shipments from pickup through final delivery.

· Schedule pickups with carriers and ensure all shipment details are accurate, complete, and compliant.

· Validate shipment requirements including dates, modes, legal weights, hazardous materials, tanker requirements, and special handling instructions.

· Gather and verify shipment information including origin and destination details, commodity descriptions, pallet/piece counts, freight class, and operational requirements.

· Maintain accurate shipment milestones and updates within the Transportation Management System (TMS).

Shipment Visibility & Customer Communication

· Proactively track shipments and provide customers with timely updates regarding shipment status, delays, and exceptions.

· Communicate directly with carriers, customers, and internal stakeholders to resolve transportation issues and service disruptions.

· Maintain visibility and operational oversight throughout the shipment lifecycle.

· Ensure shipment milestones are updated accurately and within operational KPI expectations.

Routing Guide & Carrier Management

· Utilize customer routing guides to ensure carrier compliance and transportation cost management.

· Coordinate with carriers to secure capacity and maintain service expectations across LTL and Bulk transportation modes.

· Identify carrier service or pricing concerns and escalate issues appropriately.

· Assist in identifying opportunities for routing optimization and carrier improvement initiatives.

Transportation Optimization & Spot Quotes

· Support transportation optimization initiatives including shipment consolidations, stop-off scenarios, and cost-saving opportunities.

· Request and coordinate spot quotes with carriers while evaluating market competitiveness and service requirements.

· Escalate recurring spot market opportunities for procurement review and routing guide updates.

· Work collaboratively with operations, procurement, and brokerage teams to secure the most efficient transportation solutions.

Issue Resolution & Operational Support

· Investigate and resolve shipment issues including delays, damages, reconsignments, missed deliveries, and service failures.

· Maintain proactive communication with Account Managers and leadership regarding customer-impacting issues.

· Support customer-specific operational projects, seasonal volume surges, and transportation initiatives.

· Assist brokerage and operations teams with shipment tracing, carrier communication, and delivery confirmations when needed.
