Position Description
BDI Partners is seeking a self-motivated professional with strong analytical skills and a great attitude for a full-time position with our growing private equity firm. The ideal candidate must be able to work on a small team in a fast-paced environment across various functions while leading efforts on investment sourcing analysis, diligence, and portfolio company management.
As an Associate based in Raleigh, you will have the opportunity to evaluate new investments and work closely with portfolio companies directly with BDI Partners. On new investment opportunities, Associates play pivotal, leadership roles in all aspects of transactions, including investment theses development, outreach, due diligence, investment committee discussions, and negotiations, amongst others. On active partnerships (portfolio companies), Associates work closely with BDI investment professionals, industry-leading executives, and BDI’s Portfolio Operations and Operating Partners to address a broad array of critical issues and support growth.
This full-time opportunity will be based out of BDI’s headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Responsibilities
- Participate in all facets of the investment process, including investment thesis creation, deal sourcing, financial analysis and modeling, internal and external target and portfolio company meetings, negotiation of contracts and other agreements, due diligence, and ongoing portfolio company management
- Manage the diligence and execution of transactions
- Prepare and discuss transaction evaluation materials with BDI’s Investment Committee
- Provide accounting, finance, and operational support to current portfolio companies – will be working directly with portfolio company management and BDI’s Portfolio Operations group to build systems, processes, and procedures for business transformation
- Interface directly with portfolio companies on building and maintaining operating models along with managing normal course financial reporting
- Assist in the sourcing of new investment ideas including development of investment theses and preparation of investment research, recommendations, deal memoranda and presentations
- Perform valuation analyses of investment opportunities under consideration, including the assessment of financial merits, risks, and mitigators
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, helpful but not required to have been in business, accounting, finance, or economics
- Minimum of two years of professional experience post-Bachelors (and prior to MBA, if applicable); investment banking, consulting, corporate finance or private equity experience helpful but not required
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with an ability to work on a small team in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks
- Previous experience working with external clients or partnering with teams and / or companies to build systems, processes, procedures is a plus
- Entrepreneurial drive with a self-starter mentality and excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
