Weld Shop Maintenance Technician
Position Title: Maintenance Technician – Weld Shop Carrier & EMS Rail Systems Reports To: BDFC Project Manager (Weld Maintenance Department)
Location: Auto Manufacturing Plant – West Point, GA
Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician will perform preventative maintenance (PM), overhauls, and cleaning of General Carriers (Body Side and Body Build) and Electronic Monorail System (EMS) rails in the Weld Shop. This role is critical in ensuring uptime and reliability of production equipment by reducing EMS rail and carrier breakdowns
Key Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, inspections, and overhauls of weld shop general carriers and EMS rail systems in accordance with standards.
- Work on a schedule of five (5) to six (6) days per week, eight (8) hours per day, with flexibility for weekend work as required.
Follow the PM and Overhaul timelines provided by the Project Specialist; adjust to schedule changes with one week’s notice.
- Conduct only mechanical and electrical maintenance and cleaning tasks (no engineering services).
- Document all work performed and submit written progress reports to the Project Manager bi-weekly for approval.
Attend weekly work meetings and coordinate weekend schedules as directed by Kia Georgia.
- Adapt to changes in the PM process and overhaul cycles based on equipment performance and breakdown feedback.
- Comply with all safety standards, including OSHA and Environmental Health & Safety policies.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and qualifications.
- Remove waste materials from work areas per facility standards.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in industrial maintenance (mechanical and electrical systems).
- Prior experience working with conveyor systems, carriers, or EMS rails strongly preferred.
Ability to read and follow preventative maintenance standards and instructions.
- Must be licensed and/or certified for applicable electrical and mechanical work per OSHA and NEC standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing maintenance priorities.
Physical ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and with heavy equipment.
Safety & Compliance
- Must provide OSHA-required safety training documentation (e.g., fall protection, lockout/tagout, hazard communication, hot work, confined space entry, etc.).
Must complete Contractor Safety Orientation before starting work.
- Responsible for immediate reporting of any injuries, accidents, or unsafe conditions to Employer
Work Schedule & Conditions
- Full Time Employee
- Some Saturdays required.
