Basic Job Purpose:
The Associate Director of Enterprise Cost is responsible for building and leading the execution of cost reduction initiatives across the Integrated Diagnostic Systems (IDS) Business Unit (BU), closely aligned with portfolio and lifecycle management strategies/decisions. The position will build and maintain a comprehensive view of capital plans required to execute cost-down initiatives, ensuring timely and accurate projections for current year and the Annual Strategic Review (ASR) planning period.
Reporting to the Director of Enterprise Cost for the Life Sciences Segment, the Associate Director of Enterprise Cost for IDS-MMP (Micro, Molecular, Point-of-Care) will align all activities with the Vice-President of Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) for IDS-MMP, via a dotted-line reporting relationship. This position will ensure cross-functional alignment with BU peers in the Manufacturing/Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Regulatory, Finance, and commercial organizations. They will effectively work with regional organizations in developing and executing cost and capital plans, ensuring alignment between the function, region, and business.
Principal Accountabilities:
Following BU operations priorities established by the VP-ISC, this position generates a cost reduction plan for IDS-MMP for the current year and the 3-year ASR period and drives top-to-bottom and cross-functional alignment for cost reduction plan for MMP. Owns the program to drive annual cost reductions in MMP to meet Business Unit and Integrated Supply Chain expectations, and to maintain reductions at that level. Working closely with BU finance professionals, identifies areas of current and future cost reduction opportunities, builds strong relationships with the BU, functional leaders, and plant personnel who own those areas of focus, and conducts on-site workshops when appropriate to rapidly identify, prioritize, resource, and execute detailed cost reduction plans. Identifies best practices that should be shared across all or part of the segment operations network, and works with the BU Operations Leadership Team (LT) to drive alignment across all functions to implement. Builds and owns a comprehensive capital spending plan for MMP, including breakdowns by spend type (safety, strategy/capacity, cost reduction, new product, etc) and spend timing from current year through the ASR. Continually identifies overspend risk and underspend opportunities, and coordinates responses by working closely with BU operations leadership and the Segment Director of Enterprise Cost. Owns development of long-term cost reduction ambitions and capital spending projections for the IDS-MMP ASR. Builds strong working relationships with leaders from the platforms and Business Unit to understand business priorities, and to build/maintain cost reduction and capital plans in full alignment with those priorities. Establishes and executes governance processes for cost reductions and capital spending across MMP operations leaders. Builds a robust global professional network for collaboration of learnings and ideas, as well as to ensure the review of regional requirements and the alignment to business unit and/or functional global processes. Network to include cross-BU counterparts. Ensures that program leadership is in place across MMP on all active cost-down initiatives, enabling actions and improvements. Stays aligned with project leaders to monitor progress on initiatives and escalates roadblocks to MMP operations leadership as required. Ensures that timely, accurate reporting on all cost reduction initiatives is completed to support MMP, IDS, and Segment needs. Maintains a through current-state view of all MMP products and plants, including plant cost structures/comparisons, Other Cost of Sales (OCOS) structures, raw materials, and capital spending in support of operations strategies. Performs other related duties and ad hoc assignments as required.

Education, Experience, and Capabilities Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Finance, Supply Chain, or equivalent.
5-7 years progressive experience in plant operations, quality, finance, or supply chain roles in medical device or other regulated industries.
Strong financial aptitude with demonstrated ability to perform robust cost/benefit analyses.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, enabling the ability to influence decisions based on sound rationale.
Strong computer skills, including effective use of email and virtual meeting systems for remote communication and organization purposes.
Strong project management skills, including effective meeting and workshop facilitation skills.
Strong analytical, problem solving and judgment skills.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills and leadership capability. Must be able to effectively communicate across the organization, from the manufacturing floor to senior leadership.
Demonstrated ability to drive transversal change via “influence without authority”.
Education, Experience, and Capabilities Preferred:
Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
Lean Leader Certification (or equivalent).
