Personal Chef – Private Family (Brentwood, CA)
Location: Brentwood, Los Angeles, CA
Schedule: Onsite 2 days per week (potential to increase) hosting 1–2 times per month
Compensation: $40–$60/hour (DOE) reimbursement for all food and related expenses
A private, UHNW family in Brentwood is seeking an experienced and versatile Personal Chef to prepare exceptional, high-quality meals for a family of five (two adults and three children). The ideal candidate is polished, professional, and passionate about creating memorable dining experiences centered around quality ingredients, variety, and seasonality.
The chef will cook onsite two days per week, handling both fresh meal preparation and weekly meal prep. The schedule may expand to additional days if the arrangement is a strong mutual fit. The family also hosts 1–2 gatherings per month (typically 20–25 guests), which may include Shabbat dinners, birthday parties, and BBQs.
The family values a chef who enjoys interacting with children and is open to involve them in the kitchen, encouraging a fun, hands-on learning environment.
This position is ideal for a chef with a refined palate, exceptional organization, and the ability to manage all culinary aspects of a private residence with discretion and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook family meals onsite twice weekly, including meal prep for the remainder of the week
- Develop creative, seasonal menus that suit the family’s preferences (no separate children’s menu required)
- Source premium, high-quality ingredients from trusted purveyors and local markets
- Plan, prepare, and execute menus for private gatherings (20–25 guests), including occasional Shabbat dinners
- Maintain an immaculate, well-organized kitchen and ensure proper food storage
- Manage grocery budgets, track expenses, and submit receipts for reimbursement
Qualifications
- Prior experience as a Private or Personal Chef for a high-net-worth household or luxury environment
- Expertise in multiple cuisines (e.g., Mediterranean, Italian, Asian, Vegetarian etc.)
- Experience with event-style cooking and menu planning for small gatherings
- Excellent organizational skills, discretion, and professionalism in private home settings
- Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, and presentation
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Familiarity with Shabbat-style meals preferred (Kosher not required)
