Role Description
The On-Call Archaeologist will perform various tasks related to archaeological fieldwork and survey on a temporary, on-call basis. Responsibilities include conducting excavation, site surveys, documentation, data collection, and ensuring compliance with cultural resource management standards. This role will include either local (Southern California) monitoring and/or survey, or survey in Medford, Oregon, and requires working in outdoor environments and collaborating with team members to document findings accurately and efficiently. The location of your role may be flexible based on your availability and/or preference.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in excavation, archaeological fieldwork, monitoring, and site surveys
- Educational background in Archaeology or Anthropology
- Familiarity with NEPA guidelines and associated compliance requirements
- Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in outdoor settings and variable field conditions
- Experience with prehistoric and/or historic archaeological investigations is a plus
- Knowledge of cultural resource compliance laws, including NHPA Section 106 and CEQA, is advantageous
- Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field preferred
