Position Summary
The General Foreman is responsible for recruiting, coordinating, and supervising operational field personnel; supporting the Operations, Maintenance, and Customer Service departments; and directly performing field work when required by the scope. This role combines crew leadership, hands‑on work, and cross‑functional operational support, acting as the first response level for operational needs and field activities.
This is a full‑time exempt position (40 hours per week). Due to the operational nature of the work, the schedule may vary, and the employee must be able to adapt to work outside normal hours—including nights, weekends, and emergencies—without additional overtime compensation.
Primary Responsibilities
- Identify, recruit, and recommend qualified construction workers (laborers, helpers, operators) based on project needs.
- Directly supervise field workers and coordinate their assignment to service and/or operations tasks in collaboration with area leads.
- Perform corrective and minor‑scope work directly when appropriate (hands‑on).
- Coordinate and execute: system operation tasks, preventive and corrective maintenance, minor repairs, and on‑site adjustments and improvements.
- Provide operational and technical support to Operations, Maintenance, and Customer Service departments, including responding to requests, conducting site visits, and troubleshooting.
- Ensure all work is completed according to: Defined scope, Quality standards, Safety requirements (OSHA), and Industry best practices
- Coordinate daily field activities with Operations and Maintenance, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, schedule, and best practices.
- Report progress, staffing needs, material requirements, and operational risks.
- Maintain order, cleanliness, and proper use of tools and equipment.
- Maintain flexible availability outside normal hours—including nights, weekends, and emergencies—either by working directly or coordinating personnel under supervision.
Job Requirements
Required:
- Previous experience as a Foreman, Leadman, or Crew Supervisor.
- Proven ability to recruit and manage field personnel.
- Hands‑on experience in construction, maintenance, or operations work.
- Willingness to perform manual (hands‑on) work when required.
- Basic knowledge of jobsite safety (OSHA).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to manage time effectively and adapt to work outside regular hours—including nights, weekends, and emergencies—while maintaining efficient 40‑hour weekly performance.
- Functional proficiency in English and Spanish (spoken and written), essential for coordination with teams, clients, and supervisors.
Preferred:
- Experience in water, wastewater, utilities, or industrial projects.
- Customer interaction skills.
