A leading corporate practice in Washington DC is looking to hire mid-level and senior M&A associates to support a high-end public company–focused M&A practice.
The work is primarily for public companies and large private corporates, with no private equity focus. That alone tends to appeal to candidates who prefer strategic, board-level transactions over PE-style deal churn. Matters are a mix of domestic and cross-border transactions, with a heavier international element on the public company side.
Associates are expected to take real ownership of deals. This includes running transaction workstreams, managing junior team members, and working directly with partners and clients throughout the full lifecycle of a transaction. Alongside core M&A, the practice advises on recapitalisations, joint ventures, corporate governance, and takeover preparedness.
The team is known for strong associate retention, driven by the sophistication of the work and a mentoring approach that is tailored to the individual rather than formulaic. Training is hands-on, and development is taken seriously.
Requirements:
- Class of 2017–2021
- Strong M&A experience with public companies and/or large private corporates
- Comfortable managing transactions and client relationships
- Solid technical skills and commercial judgment
Salary : $310,000 - $390,000
