BCI has a new contract role open with our direct client in Jersey City, NJ. The person for this role will have a technical background, be highly analytical with strong Excel skills, data analysis, and problem-solving skills. You will be focused on transforming payroll data into meaningful analysis and recommendations. Will start out as a 6-month contract with potential future extensions. Will be hybrid with 2 days in office required. *Please read all the job details and information below.
The purpose of the role is to ensure the accuracy, compliance, and integrity of payroll operations for a large US staff by analyzing payroll data, monitoring controls, and providing insights that support effective decision making. The role focuses on identifying discrepancies, trends, and risks within payroll processes while ensuring adherence to legal, statutory, and company requirements.
Responsibilities
• Calculate and process employee wages, salaries, bonuses, commissions, and overtime
• Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing
• Review and validate timesheets, attendance data, and all payroll inputs
• Manage off-cycle payrolls, including corrections, final payments, and special payouts
• Calculate and process payroll taxes and statutory contributions in line with local regulations
• Ensure full compliance with applicable laws and reporting requirements
• Prepare and submit statutory filings and payroll-related reports
• Administer employee lifecycle changes, including hires, terminations, and benefits updates
• Maintain strict confidentiality and adherence to data protection standards
• Support reporting needs by preparing monthly and ad hoc payroll data
• Collaborate with HR, Finance, Audit teams, and external payroll providers
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance payroll accuracy and efficiency
• Contribute to projects and additional tasks as required
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Economics, Accounting, or related field is a plus, supporting strong numerical and analytical capabilities
• Strong experience working in Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM Payroll module a BIG
• Experience using Oracle Fusion tools such as OTBI, BI Publisher, HSDL, or Element treatments preferred
• Advanced proficiency in payroll reporting, data analysis, and reconciliations
• Ability to analyze large datasets and identify root causes of payroll discrepancies
• Experience supporting payroll system upgrades, or enhancements preferred
• Comfortable collaborating with technical teams on integrations, interfaces, and testing activities
• Strong problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and process orientation
• Excellent attention to detail, time management, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with payroll systems and knowledge of payroll processes, garnishments, and benefits administration
• Strong skills in MS Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data validation), Word, Outlook
• Strong research, problem-solving, and solutions-oriented mindset
Additional Information:
*Please note - for this position we can work only on a W2 / 1099 basis. *NO C2C / subcontractors*. You must be a US Citizen, or GC/EAD/OPT holder. Not able to provide any H1 sponsorship / transfers at this time. Can only consider local candidates already living in the NY / NJ area. No relocation.
*Interview process will be 2-3 rounds. First and second round will be a 1-hour video call via teams meeting with a few members of the payroll team. If goes well, you will be invited to the Jersey City office for a F2F technical panel interview.
