Position: Research Assistant – CROPS (Facilities Team)
Location: 12111 Mississauga Road, Caledon, ON L7C 1X1
Anticipated Start date: 09/22
Duration: 12 months Contract with an extension
Shift: Monday - Friday 8 am - 4pm
Pay Rate: $21.00/hr. on W2
Need: Agriculture/Green House Planting Background . Reliable transportation to and from work (public transit is not accessible)
Interview Process: 1 - Video Screening, 2 - Virtual Interview.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Must be fluent in English
- Comfortable performing repetitive tasks with attention to detail
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs regularly
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, etc.)
- Willing to work occasional weekends as needed
- Must have reliable transportation to and from the Caledon site
Medical Surveillance Requirements
The following tests are required for this role and can be completed at a later stage:
- Respirator Fit Testing
- Pulmonary Function Test

Position Overview
Corteva Agriscience is seeking a hard-working, motivated, and independent individual to join the Facilities Team at our Caledon Research and Development Center. This state-of-the-art facility houses the world’s largest canola research greenhouse and supports a field-based canola breeding program. The Facilities Team plays a vital role in maintaining operations through plant care, equipment maintenance, integrated pest management (IPM), and a wide range of outdoor and greenhouse support activities.
We are looking for a dependable team member who can work independently to support site productivity, cleanliness, and safety. Our team values strong work ethic, environmental stewardship, sustainability, and commitment to innovation in agricultural science.
Major Responsibilities
Cleaning & Sanitation
- Vacuum and power wash greenhouse compartments to maintain a clean, pest-free environment for research integrity
- Wash and sanitize used plastic trays to remove plant debris and prevent pest/disease spread
- Perform weekly cleaning of critical areas across the facility
Greenhouse Operations
- Water and fertilize canola research plants in greenhouse settings
- Operate potting and tray-filling machinery to prepare containers efficiently and safely
General Labor & Maintenance
- Set up and monitor evaporative cooling systems
- Assist with application of greenhouse whitewash for climate control
- Support composting initiatives for sustainable disposal of plant material
Seasonal & Outdoor Duties
- Mow and trim grass across approximately [X] acres of lawn
- Shovel snow from building entrances and emergency exits during winter months
- Maintain and care for on-site gardens throughout the growing season
Skills, Qualities & Competencies
- Proven ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable working in high-temperature environments (e.g., greenhouses)
- Strong work ethic with the ability to follow procedures and work independently
- Flexible and willing to assist with weekend tasks when necessary
- Committed to safety, cleanliness, and operational efficiency

The Caledon Research and Development Center is located at the intersection of Mayfield Road and Mississauga Road. The site is approximately:
- 20 minutes from Brampton
- 25 minutes from Mississauga
- 45 minutes from Guelph and Toronto
Due to the remote location and lack of public transit access, reliable personal transportation is essential.
