IT Intern (Application Development)

Horizon BCBSNJ seeks a self-directed Information Technology (IT) intern with a passion for technology, collaboration, and creative problem-solving. The intern will actively contribute to meaningful projects and work closely with a mentor and with senior leadership. Responsibilities: The IT intern will be asked to participate in projects from inception to production deployment Assist the Application Development team in various activities, including adoption of AppOps and DevSecOps, implementation of continuous delivery pipelines, automation of job functions, and creation of information management dashboards Participate in team activities, including status meetings, design sessions, product demos, and code reviews Engage in all aspects of the software delivery lifecycle Provide and share weekly status updates Requirements: High School Diploma Required Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information System, or related field Experience with Python, Java, JavaScript, or related programming language Familiarity with data store, infrastructure, and cloud components Soft Skills include: Analytical and problem-solving skills; Strong verbal and written communications; Willing to learn and be self-motivated Additional Information: Exposure to enterprise work environment and culture Hands on experience in executing and supporting IT systems, analyzing and troubleshooting system and data issues, and organizing and conducting meetings and working sessions Ability to learn and sharpen technical skills Insight into dealing with and solving real world IT challenges and problems Experience with making a business case and presenting solutions Location: 3 Penn Plaza Newark NJ – Hybrid Work Schedule Schedule: 8am-5pm (9 hour work day with lunch) Duration: 11 week Summer Internship Program (June 1, 2026 – August 13, 2026) This is a pipeline requisition for the 2026 Summer Internship Program not currently an open position.
