Role Overview
BBVA is seeking a highly analytical and driven LatAm Markets Trader to join our LatAm Hub. You will be a key member of the team responsible for managing and expanding our footprint in Chile and the broader Latin American local currency rates market. This role requires a sophisticated understanding of Chilean FX, rates derivatives, and bonds, combined with the technical proficiency to improve our modeling and execution infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Market Analysis & Strategy
- Monitor & Evaluate: Track Chilean market activities across FX, rates derivatives, and bonds. Assess new developments and provide reporting on their potential impact on business positions.
- Execute: Develop and execute trading strategies for Chilean rates derivatives, USD/CLP FX, and local bonds, ensuring all trades align with desk strategy and risk limits.
- Pricing & Hedging: Provide accurate pricing for Interest Rate Derivatives and manage hedging activities related to foreign currency loan portfolios for our clients.
Relationship & Project Management
- Network Building: Foster and maintain strong professional relationships with both internal stakeholders and external counterparts within the Chilean asset space.
- Strategic Projects: Act as a core member of the team driving Chile and Latam Local Currency Rates projects across the BBVA Latam Hub.
Technology & Innovation
- Systems Improvement: Contribute to the evolution of desk technology by improving modeling processes, analytical tools, and database management.
- Risk Oversight: Maintain rigorous monitoring of positions and market-making activities while ensuring strict adherence to all internal policies and regulatory procedures.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Academic Background: Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Mathematics, Engineering), Economics, or Finance.
- Professional Experience: A minimum of 5–7 years of experience in multi-asset pricing and market risk management.
- Market Expertise: Proven track record in Chilean local markets and a deep understanding of relevant regulatory frameworks.
Technical Skills
- Trading Tools: Proficiency in financial software, specifically Bloomberg and Tradeweb.
- Programming: Strong working knowledge of SQL and scripting languages (Python, Bash) is a requirement for this role.

With respect to this position in our New York Office, the expected base salary ranges from $200,000 to $230,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
