Job Summary
The On-Site Safety Manager plays a critical role in maintaining our company's commitment to a safe, compliant, and proactive work environment. This position is responsible for overseeing all jobsite safety operations, ensuring adherence to OSHA regulations, company policies, and client-specific safety requirements. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can build trust with field crews, enforce safety standards, and foster a positive safety culture across all project sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement, monitor, and enforce site-specific safety plans and programs for all paving and civil construction activities.
- Conduct daily jobsite inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure corrective actions are taken promptly.
- Lead safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing training for crews, subcontractors, and visitors.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and Superintendents to integrate safety practices into all project planning and execution.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; document findings and implement corrective measures.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, reports, and regulatory compliance documentation.
- Ensure compliance with all OSHA, Cal/OSHA, DOT, and company-specific safety standards.
- Serve as the primary liaison for all safety-related audits, client meetings, and site inspections.
- Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and open communication regarding safety performance.
Qualifications
- 5 years of safety management experience in commercial construction, paving, or heavy civil environments.
- Bachelors Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field preferred
- Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926, MUTCD standards, and construction site safety protocols.
- Experience with large-scale paving operations, including grading, asphalt, and concrete work, preferred.
- OSHA 30-hour certification (required); CHST or other safety credentials a plus.
- Strong communication, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills with the ability to engage crews and subcontractors effectively.
- Proficiency in safety management software, MS Office, and digital reporting tools.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
