Tractor Operator

BBSI’s client is a well-established nursery that is looking for tractor operators at their Elkton farm location. This is a seasonal position from mid-December to March but could potentially be extended for the right person looking for a permanent position. Responsibilities can vary between driving and physical tasks and will include driving tractors through fields and on roads, forklifts around and in buildings, and assisting with other tasks as needed.

Responsibilities:

· Operating 70 to 100 HP tractors with trailers attached.

· Operating tractors with various implements attached such as spreaders, transplanters and lifters to perform field work and maintenance.

· Mixing and operating spray equipment while following safe handling guidelines.

· Operating forklifts and bucket tractors as needed.

· Delivering seedlings for planting and removing pallets and bins from the field.

· Aiding irrigation in the delivery and removal of pipes from the field.

· Field and road work and equipment maintenance.

· Other duties as assigned. May include physical duties such as shoveling.

Ideal candidates have the following skills and experience:

· Valid drivers license, reliable transportation and a clean driving record.

· Experience driving 70 to 100 HP tractors with trailers and various attachments.

· Good attendance and willingness to work long hours and some weekends.

· Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs.

· Good time management and record keeping. Needs to fill out paperwork and keep IPad records.

· Ability to learn new things, follow directions and work well with a team.

Other Details

· Hours: hours can vary due to weather, so needs to be able to work a flexible schedule that may involve long days and weekends

· Pay Rate: $18.00/hr

· Position Type: seasonal temp worker, may become permanent.

· Background check and negative drug screen required.

· Interview process includes a tractor driving assessment.
