The role involves the design of hardware for custom build automated machinery and systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards and effective communication with customers and suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Design of Hardware for custom build automated machinery and systems.
- Sizing and dimensioning of Controls, Measurements and drive technologies.
- Creation of electric hardware diagrams and BOM’s in PDM system.
- Participation and support in creation of safety concepts.
- Calculate proper incoming and branch circuit protection.
- Calculate proper wire sizing, knowledge of Eplan.
- Creation of panel layouts and clarification of interfaces.
- Create electrical wiring schematics, flow diagrams, panel layouts, Bill of Materials, organize release packages, and update schematics.
- Clarification of technical details with customers and suppliers.
- Participate in internal and customer design reviews, installations, and service calls when needed.
- Follow all policy and procedures to maintain ISO9000 Certification requirements.
- If required, temporary takeover of the role as a Main Responsible for Hardware Engineering within the Project and on behalf of the Project Manager.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Education
- An engineering degree, specializing in electronics, electrical or controls technology or equivalent 5 years’ experience in custom design per application systems, in automation, control system design, PLC and HMI PLCs.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Allen Bradley or Siemens PLC’s, HMI’s, Servo control, and Electrical design.
- Knowledgeable of electrical and controls engineering theories and principles.
- Significant electrical aptitude and knowledge of acceptable practices, techniques, safety and codes.
- Ideally experience with Inverter, Power electronics and EMV technologies.
- AutoCAD experience to modify electrical drawings and schematics.
- Eplan P8 or 2022 experience required.
- Good knowledge of ISO / OSHA / cGMP requirements and current industry practices.
- Ability to work independently or together in a team environment.
- Strong written communication abilities.
- Travel or extend workday when required.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with advanced automation technologies.
- Familiarity with project management tools.
