What are the responsibilities and job description for the Job Cost Accountant position at BBEC, LLC?
This position will report to BBEC, LLC, a subsidiary of HB Global.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and monitor job cost accounting systems to ensure accurate job costing.
- Track all project-related costs including labor, materials, subcontractors, equipment, and overhead.
- Collaborate with project managers to prepare and review billing, schedule of values, forecasts, and variance reports.
- Perform monthly job cost reconciliations and prepare Work-In-Progress (WIP) reports.
- Ensure all costs are coded correctly and aligned with the project budget.
- Analyze cost trends and provide recommendations for cost control and process improvement.
- Produce billing, invoicing and supplier waivers as needed.
- Complete weekly certified payroll reporting.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and GAAP.
- Prepare financial reports and support audits as required.
- Provide support to the accounting department as required and backup for weekly payroll processing.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3 years of experience in construction accounting or job cost accounting (electrical contracting preferred).
- Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP reporting, and construction billing practices.
- Familiarity with construction accounting software (Viewpoint/Spectrum preferred, GCPay, Procore, Textura, Trimble Pay or similar).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working for an electrical or mechanical contractor.
- Construction accounting certification (e.g., CCIFP) is a plus.
- Knowledge of prevailing wage compliance.
