Job Cost Accountant

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and monitor job cost accounting systems to ensure accurate job costing.
• Track all project-related costs including labor, materials, subcontractors, equipment, and overhead.
• Collaborate with project managers to prepare and review billing, schedule of values, forecasts, and variance reports.
• Perform monthly job cost reconciliations and prepare Work-In-Progress (WIP) reports.
• Ensure all costs are coded correctly and aligned with the project budget.
• Analyze cost trends and provide recommendations for cost control and process improvement.
• Produce billing, invoicing and supplier waivers as needed.
• Complete weekly certified payroll reporting.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and GAAP.
• Prepare financial reports and support audits as required.
• Provide support to the accounting department as required and backup for weekly payroll processing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3 years of experience in construction accounting or job cost accounting (electrical contracting preferred).
• Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP reporting, and construction billing practices.
• Familiarity with construction accounting software (Viewpoint/Spectrum preferred, GCPay, Procore, Textura, Trimble Pay or similar).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working for an electrical or mechanical contractor.
• Construction accounting certification (e.g., CCIFP) is a plus.
• Knowledge of prevailing wage compliance.
