Digital News and Streaming

Advertising Product Team


The Advertising Product team sits within the Digital News and Streaming group and has ownership of all ad product decisions; sitting across formats, audience segmentation, demand partnerships and the technology needed to deliver ads effectively and efficiently. The Ad Product, Technology and Operational division are responsible for the fulfilment of all direct advertising activity as well supporting the successful delivery of deal-based programmatic revenues.



The team ensure the successful enablement of sales teams to guarantee the proper functioning of sales workflows. This is achieved through diligent, experienced servicing of campaigns via platforms, consistent communications regarding the commercial portfolio of ad products, frequent training on tools and process as well as the flawless execution of contractual commitments.


Job Purpose


The Regional Manager of Digital Ad Operations North America (New York) manages a team of digital experts and traffickers that will be based out of the regional hub office in New York. The role operates in a complex Ad Operations business and is focused on sales enablement, managing a highly technically skilled team and is a key operational appointment reporting into the VP of Ad Product & Operations based in London.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities


  • Responsible for the delivery of all ad ops campaigns sourced in the NAM region, including but not limited to quality control, trafficking, troubleshooting, reporting, optimization, capacity planning and management and accurate billing. This includes leading KPI-driven optimization strategies and mentoring a team of Ad Operations Execs and Coordinators.
  • Handle inventory requests for Sales & Planning Teams and work closely with sales and account management teams to ensure client implementations are built for success, including updates to the broader sales teams, campaign status emails and progress reports, and dashboards as needed.
  • Support the North America Sales leads with client and agency reports, fielding technical requests with occasional agency meetings. Manage multiple advertiser and agency accounts, developing positive working relationships with media buyers and operations teams of clients and partners.
  • Own the reconciliation and billing cycle for all direct regional campaigns, liaising with sales and finance.
  • Work within ad product, technology and ops team to garner centers of excellence around operations, planning and testing.
  • Using business analytics and user behaviors, generate insight and ultimately ideas that will drive continuous ad ops improvements.
  • Provide first line support of advertising takedown and troubleshooting and investigation across News web/app site. Liaise with other Regional Ad Ops Leads to design support and comms model with partners.
  • Regional Ops lead to ensure adherence of sales policy, communicate new strategies to the sales team, as well as drive adoption through sharing of best practices.
  • Lead on team training and development to ensure high technical and operational capabilities. Global collaboration on promoting the best ops processes for new Ad products.
  • Contribute to the growth of ads business by supporting testing on ad format development, programmatic advertising, cross-platform collaboration, order fulfillment process management.

Knowledge, Skills, Training & Experience


Key Criteria


  • 5 years of proven experience managing Digital Ad Operations team
  • Proven experience in operating digital advertising products, either in a publisher or ad technology business. With experience in troubleshooting Programmatic Deals.Advanced Understanding of Advertising Campaign Management ecosystem and tech, e.g. Operative One, Google Ad Manager, DV360, SSP’s, Youtube, Brand safety tools
  • Experience of Ad Sales Order Management Systems, CRMs and cross platform advertising campaign management/stewardships systems. e.g. Salesforce and/ or Mediacloud
  • Ability to coordinate among multiple business, geographically dispersed stakeholders through an ongoing dialog to ensure Ad Ops is aligned with business needs and activities
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, challenging, and unpredictable environment
  • Strong facilitation skills, forging consensus around credible, executable solutions
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, confident presenter

Desirable


  • Developed business health metrics, reporting, and analysis to track programmatic campaign health and inform decision-making
  • Experience in using Business Intelligence tools for analysis and reporting
  • Understanding of first party data, reconciliation and billing cycles.
  • Excel at balancing time spent between strategic initiatives and diving into the details when necessary
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills with working knowledge of Javascript and HTML in order to troubleshoot

Compensation


The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $125,000 to $135,000. The actual base salary offered depends on the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and geographic location of the position.This range is not inclusive of a competitive bonus, flexible, hybrid working schedule & benefits including but not limited to: 100% BBCS covered medical & dental insurance, vision, & 401k match.
