About the Role
Ben Bellucci Academy (BBA) is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable After-School Basketball Instructor to lead engaging sports programs for elementary students in the Montgomery County, MD area.
This role is ideal for someone with a passion for youth basketball, a love for teaching kids, and a desire to create a fun, safe, and positive learning environment where every child can thrive. You'll be a key part of BBA's mission to build confidence, teamwork, and healthy habits through sports right here in Montgomery, MD.
Responsibilities
- Lead age-appropriate basketball drills, activities, and games.
- Teach essential basketball-specific skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, and defense.
- Organize scrimmages, small-group games, and fun challenges to reinforce skills and strategies.
- Ensure a positive, safe, and inclusive environment for all participants.
- Prepare simple, dynamic lesson plans tailored to elementary-aged students.
- Motivate and encourage students through positive coaching and mentorship methods.
- Set up and clean up equipment before and after sessions.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children (teaching, coaching, or mentoring preferred).
- Strong working knowledge of basketball fundamentals, rules, and strategies.
- Excellent communication, classroom management, and leadership skills.
- Organized, dependable, and energetic personality.
- CPR/First Aid certification is a plus (or willingness to obtain).
- Must pass a background check.
Schedule & Pay
- After-school hours: typically 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, 1–3 days per week.
- Each session lasts about 1.5 hours (including setup and cleanup).
- Pay: $20–$25/hour depending on experience and certifications.
