Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Metal Grinder to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for precision grinding of metal components to meet strict quality standards and specifications. Your expertise in various grinding techniques and familiarity with industrial equipment will ensure the production of high-quality parts that adhere to safety and dimensional accuracy. Duties
- Operate and set up various grinding machines, including surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and centerless grinders, ensuring optimal performance.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and production documents to determine grinding specifications and tolerances.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and gauges to verify dimensions and ensure compliance with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Program CNC grinding machines using CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software and adjust machine parameters for precision finishing.
- Troubleshoot industrial equipment issues promptly to minimize downtime and maintain production flow.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety standards in production, including proper handling of tooling and materials.
- Collaborate with team members on assembly line processes, materials handling, and quality control procedures to ensure consistent product quality.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating CNC machining equipment such as CNC lathes, milling machines, or grinding machines within a manufacturing or factory setting.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret mechanical blueprints and fabrication drawings accurately.
- Proficiency in CNC programming, CAM programming, and understanding of industrial equipment troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with Fanuc controls, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and CNC machine operation.
- Ability to perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other measuring tools; understanding GD&T principles is essential.
- Experience with shop math including basic calculations for measurements and tolerances.
- Knowledge of safety standards in production environments including proper use of hand tools and tooling safety protocols.
- Valid forklift certification is a plus for materials handling tasks.
- Prior experience working in a manufacturing facility or assembly line environment is preferred.
