Purpose:

BayWa r.e. Americas is seeking a Power Origination Manager to join our Commercial Team.

This individual will play a key role in driving offtake strategy and execution across our mid- and late-stage project portfolio. As a member of a small, dynamic team, the Manager will lead engagement with offtake counterparties, support the development and submission of RFP bid packages, play a key role in power purchase agreement negotiations, and serve as a Power Origination SME across a range of utility-scale solar and storage projects.

This role requires a high degree of cross-functional collaboration with colleagues throughout the organization, including Senior Management, Development, Engineering, Finance, and Legal, and offers meaningful opportunity to shape the growth of the origination function.

Responsibilities we will trust you with:

Success in this role involves:

Relationship Management & External Presence

  • Maintain and grow relationships with utilities, C&I and corporate offtakers, brokers, retailers, consultants, and other industry participants necessary for developing competitive proposals and securing bilateral contracts.
  • Guide conference and industry event strategy to ensure strong market presence, knowledge capture, and integration of insights into reporting and team workflows.

Deal Execution

  • Lead RFP go/no-go decisions and manage bid package compilation from RFP launch through project shortlisting, in collaboration with the Power Origination Associate; ensure proposals are reviewed, refined, and followed up on throughout entire process.
  • Provide negotiation and structuring support across a range of offtake contract types, including physical PPAs, VPPAs, RA contracts, BTAs, storage tolling arrangements, with responsibility for commercial terms, risk allocation, and internal stakeholder alignment through execution.
  • Support as the offtake SME on internal project-level workstreams, including investment approvals, status reporting and pricing strategy.

Market Intelligence & Pricing

  • Own regional pricing intelligence, ensuring completeness and ongoing usefulness; provide periodic and ad hoc market updates on deal flow, pricing activity, and current events across relevant power markets
  • Track evolving buyer requirements that shape contractual structures; integrate that knowledge to recommend structures that equitably distribute risk.
  • Analyze competitor activity and market conditions, identifying new approaches to customer, market, and tariff analysis to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Conduct high-level financial analysis to assess deal economics and run sensitivities; review project pricing through an origination lens and update processes as needed.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Maintain and continuously improve the market readiness process, guiding offtake analysis at various project development tiers and ensuring projects are appropriately positioned prior to launch.
  • Lead and participate in cross-team meetings with clear purpose and structure, balancing competing stakeholder needs while driving toward decisions and next steps.
  • Navigate ambiguity and shifting priorities with sound judgment, maintaining forward momentum and modeling inclusive, influence-based collaboration.
  • Support M&A activities as needed.

  • Highly proficient in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
