Role Overview:
A fire sprinkler system installation technician helper assists foremen (experienced technicians) in installing, repairing, and maintaining fire sprinkler systems in commercial, residential, and industrial buildings. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals looking to build skills in fire protection and construction trades.
Core responsibilities:
- Assist installers/fitters with layout, assembly, and installation of fire sprinkler piping and related equipment.
- Carry tools, materials, and equipment to and from the job site.
- Cut, thread, and install pipes under supervision.
- Help with measuring, drilling, hanging pipe supports, and preparing work areas.
- Load and unload materials, ensuring equipment is properly organized.
- Support in testing systems for proper operation and compliance with local, state and federal codes.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Operate basic hand and power tools (examples: drills, saws, pipe wrenches, etc.)
- Follow instructions from foremen, project managers and supervisors.
- Assist in reporting issues or hazards.
Essential skills and qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED (preferred).
- Prior construction experience is a plus but not required.
- Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math.
- Willingness to learn installation techniques and fire protection standards.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in various environments (heights, attics, crawl spaces, outdoors, etc.)
- Valid driver's license and dependable transportation (preferred).
