The Licensed Practical Nurse responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Providing direct patient care and assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility.
- Performing basic nursing assessments to collect patient data and monitor their condition.
- Administering medications, including oral, topical, intramuscular, and subcutaneous medications, as prescribed by a healthcare provider.
- Monitoring and recording vital signs and providing wound care.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records.
- Working as part of a healthcare team and collaborating with other healthcare professionals, such as RNs, physicians, and other support staff.
- Providing basic health education and instructions to patients and their families.
- Performing basic medical procedures, such as administering injections, starting intravenous (IV) lines, collecting laboratory specimens, and conducting simple laboratory tests (depending on state regulations).
- Providing emotional support and comfort to patients and their families.
- Supervising CNAs
- High School Diploma or GED
- Completion of a state-approved practical nursing program
- Current nursing license by the Minnesota Board of Nursing to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse
- Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written form
- Ability to negotiate and interact effectively with staff, patients, families, and professional/regulatory agents
- CPR certified
- Long-term care experience preferred
