Duties
- Assist residents or clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs, reporting changes, and maintaining accurate care records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal planning and cooking as required
- Administer medications safely following prescribed instructions and care plans
- Support residents with memory care needs such as Alzheimer’s or dementia by implementing specialized techniques and ensuring a safe environment
- Conduct regular patient observation to identify potential health concerns or safety issues promptly
- Maintain cleanliness of living spaces through routine cleaning tasks to ensure a hygienic environment
- Utilize equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident’s
to assist with heavy lifting or transfers safely and effectively - Document all care activities accurately and collaborate with healthcare professionals to update care plans as needed
- Provide emotional support and companionship to foster social engagement and reduce feelings of isolation
Requirements
- Proven experience in home & community care, assisted living, nursing homes, or group homes is highly preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, vital signs monitoring, medication administration, and basic nursing skills including CPR and first aid certification
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, Alzheimer’s disease, or other memory impairments is advantageous
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using appropriate equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident’s
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times
- Excellent communication skills coupled with compassionate caregiving approach
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed
- Valid certifications in CPR and first aid; additional certifications in hospice care or home health are a plus
- Physical stamina to perform demanding tasks over extended periods while maintaining attention to detail
