Duties
- Collect residential trash and recyclables efficiently along designated routes, adhering to scheduled pickup times
- Operate specialized trash collection vehicles safely and responsibly, following all safety protocols and traffic laws
- Inspect collection areas to ensure proper disposal and identify any issues requiring attention or reporting
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding service schedules or concerns, providing friendly and professional assistance
- Maintain the cleanliness of trucks and equipment, performing routine checks and minor maintenance as needed
- Complete daily route logs accurately, documenting completed pickups and any incidents or irregularities
- Assist in training new team members on safety procedures, route protocols, and customer service standards
- Daily truck inspections and reporting
- Able to work in different weather conditions
Skills
- Physical stamina to lift 50 pounds, carry, and maneuver trash containers repeatedly throughout the day (the trucks are equiped with automated equipment)
- Excellent time management skills to ensure the timely completion of daily routes
- Ability to operate commercial vehicles safely with a valid driver’s license suitable for the vehicle type
- Good communication skills to interact positively with customers and team members
- Attention to detail for inspecting collection areas and completing accurate logs
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to waste collection operations
- Nice-to-have: CDL, forklift, iPad, and prior experience in waste management or commercial driving; familiarity with route navigation tools
