Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures, ensuring proper animal restraint and handling at all times
- Prepare animals for procedures by performing animal husbandry tasks such as bathing, grooming, and maintaining cleanliness in kennels and treatment areas
- Conduct laboratory tests, including blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostics to support accurate diagnoses
- Maintain detailed records of animal treatments, laboratory results, and patient histories using veterinary terminology and record-keeping systems
- Perform dental cleanings, including understanding dental terminology and assisting with pet dental procedures
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments accurately following aseptic techniques and veterinary protocols
- Support pet owners with pet care advice, including pet grooming tips, feeding instructions, and behavioral training techniques such as dog training or handling
Qualifications
- Previous kennel experience or animal care background MUST strong animal husbandry skills required
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and veterinary critical care practices
- Experience with laboratory procedures, X-ray operation, and animal catheterization is highly desirable
- Skilled in animal restraint techniques for dogs, cats, and other small animals; experience with equine handling is a plus
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with team members and educating pet owners
- Certification or experience as a veterinary technician is preferred; ongoing professional development encouraged
Pay: $25.00 - $36.13 per hour
