POSITION SUMMARY:
The Security Specialist is responsible for implementing, managing, and maintaining the physical security measures for the organization, this is accomplished by working to safeguard assets, people and information against potential threats, intrusions, or unauthorized access.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND SUPPORTING DUTIES:
- Conduct thorough risk assessments and security audits to identify vulnerabilities and potential threats to the organization’s physical assets and infrastructure.
- Implement and manage access control systems, such as key cards, biometric scanners, or other security measures to regulate entry and exit to restricted areas.
- Oversee the installation and maintenance of video surveillance systems and monitoring equipment to detect and prevent security breaches or suspicious activities.
- Execute incident response protocols in case of security breaches, theft, vandalism, or other emergencies.
- Administer security-related technology, such as alarm systems, intrusion detection systems, and security cameras.
- Ensure regular inspection, maintenance, and proper functioning of physical security equipment, including locks, gates, and barriers.
- Assist in emergency situations, including coordinating responses with law enforcement and emergency services if necessary.
- Maintain detailed records of security incidents, investigations, and resolutions for reporting and analysis purposes.
- Assist in security system upgrades or enhancements based on emerging threats and technological advancements.
- Assist security vendors and contractors to ensure the installation and maintenance of security equipment are carried out effectively.
- Review, update, and maintain policies and procedures to ensure compliance, clarity, and alignment with organizational goals.
- Prepare, analyze, and distribute routine reports to support decision-making and ensure accurate visibility into operational performance.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, recommend solutions, and support implementation efforts to enhance efficiency and service quality.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Required Education: A two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school equivalent to approximately 64 credit hours.
Required Experience: 1-3 years’ experience working in a financial institution or physical security experience.
Required Knowledge: Knowledge of physical security technologies and systems. Understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
