Position Summary
The Senior Network Escalation Engineer will serve as a senior technical authority supporting complex Federal customer environments. This individual will provide advanced troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and escalation management for Juniper switching technologies while partnering with Engineering, Product Management, Sales, and customer technical teams.
The successful candidate will possess deep expertise in Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, data center architectures, and advanced troubleshooting methodologies. This engineer will support highly visible customer environments where rapid issue resolution, technical leadership, and communication skills are critical to customer success.
This position requires regular onsite presence at Herndon office to provide SCIF coverage and support sensitive government environments.
What You'll Do
Customer & Escalation Leadership
• Own and drive resolution of high-priority, business-critical, and sensitive customer escalations.
• Serve as a senior technical escalation point for federal customers, TAC teams, and support organizations.
• Act as a trusted advisor and advocate for customers during outage and service-impacting events.
• Lead technical discussions, customer reviews, escalation calls, and onsite engagements.
• Ensure timely updates, documentation, and communication across all stakeholders.
• Manage customer expectations while driving issues to resolution.
Advanced Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis
• Troubleshoot complex issues across software, hardware, network design, and operational layers.
• Perform detailed root cause analysis (RCA) and provide actionable recommendations.
• Reproduce customer-reported issues in laboratory environments and collaborate with Engineering on defect resolution.
• Develop and validate workarounds, mitigations, and permanent fixes.
• Analyze packet captures, traffic flows, and protocol behavior to isolate complex problems.

• Mentor and support other engineers through knowledge sharing and technical guidance.
Operational Excellence
• Maintain detailed case notes and technical documentation.
• Develop Knowledge Base articles, troubleshooting guides, and best-practice documentation.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve customer experience and operational efficiency.
• Identify opportunities for automation and workflow optimization.
Required Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Equivalent industry experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirements.
Experience
• 10 years of networking experience in enterprise, service provider, or data center environments.
• 7 years supporting advanced customer escalations and critical production environments.
• Experience supporting large-scale government or federal customer networks preferred.
• Proven success managing complex network troubleshooting and customer-facing escalations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Required Technical Skills
• Extensive experience with Juniper Enterprise and Data Center Switching products.
• Deep understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking principles.
• Experience with EVPN/VXLAN technologies.
• Strong understanding of BGP, OSPF, and multicast protocols.
• Experience with Linux-based systems and troubleshooting tools.
• Strong packet analysis and protocol troubleshooting skills.

Mandatory Requirements
• Active TS/SCI clearance required at the time of hire.

• Ability to work within secure government and SCIF environments.
• Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the Herndon, Virginia office.
• Ability to provide onsite coverage Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM EST.
• This is an onsite position and is not eligible for remote work.
