What We Are Looking For
Baylor University is seeking a Baylor Sciences Building Stockroom and Laboratory Assistant. The BSB Stockroom and Laboratory Assistant supports the efficient operation of the Baylor Sciences Building (BSB) centralized stockroom, loading dock, and shared research facilities. This position ensures timely receipt, tracking, and distribution of laboratory materials; provides customer-facing support at the stockroom window; monitors consumable usage, orders supplies, and helps maintain a safe, clean, and functional laboratory environment for shared facilities.
An Associate's degree and one year of relevant work experience are required. A Bachelor's degree and one year of relevant work experience are preferred.
All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
What You Will Do
- Receive, inspect and log all inbound deliveries to the BSB Stockroom (general lab supplies, chemicals, packages) and facilitate their distribution to building occupants at the stockroom window
- Coordinate with vendors and delivery drivers at the loading dock to ensure proper documentation, shipping labels, and that temperature/hazard-sensitive items are managed and distributed correctly
- Support re-order and re-stocking workflows
- Provide direct support to faculty, staff, and student researchers by obtaining supplies, providing basic resource/equipment training, and serving as a first point of contact for issue resolution
- Support routine cleaning, maintenance, and testing for assigned areas as trained, including for equipment in the sterilizer facility and shared resources in life science laboratories (Vivarium and MBC)
- Intake chemicals into the campus inventory system including bar-coding, and hazard labeling as directed by EHS
- Assist waste coordination and related compliance logs for the department, including for autoclave testing and general equipment use
- Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission
- Ability to comply with university policies
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
