What We Are Looking For
Baylor University department of Psychology and Neuroscience is seeking a Lab Coordinator. The Lab Coordinator supports the daily functioning of a research laboratory by coordinating operations, managing supplies and equipment, and training new volunteers. This role assists with animal care as needed and develops technical expertise in behavioral, surgical, histological, and analytical research methods. The Lab Coordinator also contributes to accurate data collection and analysis, helping ensure efficient and reliable research outcomes.
A Bachelor’s degree and one year of relevant work experience are required. A Bachelor’s degree and three years relevant work experience are preferred. Additional education or experience may be considered in lieu of one another.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
What You Will Do
Oversee daily laboratory procedures, including ordering supplies, maintaining equipment, provide training to incoming volunteers and assisting in animal care when required
As a lab coordinator, the following skills will be taught and proficiency in them expected to by gained
Rodent addiction self-administration and seeking behavioral paradigms
Intracranial surgical procedures
Jugular catheter surgery
Perfusion and tissue collection
Perform histological and biological assays on tissues collected from experimental animals
Microscopy
Record and assist in data entry and analysis using specific computer software programs
Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission
Ability to comply with university policies
Maintain regular and punctual attendance
