What are the responsibilities and job description for the Voice Instructor position at Baylee's Music Academy?
Voice InstructorJob Overview
Baylee's Music Academy is hiring a Voice Instructor to teach private voice lessons to students of all ages and skill levels, from complete beginners to advanced performers. This is a paid position on a small, hands-on faculty. Students here get more than a weekly lesson. They receive theory instruction, stage coaching, monthly masterclasses, three recitals a year, and community performances through our Showcase Group — and this role is responsible for building students toward all of it, not just the time in the room.
Duties
- Build voice training plans suited to each student — kids, teens, and adults, beginner through advanced
- Teach breath control, pitch, tone, diction, and vocal health properly, so students develop a voice that lasts
- Incorporate music theory and repertoire selection into lessons, not just technique drills
- Coach stage presence and performance technique as part of regular lessons
- Give students regular, honest, encouraging feedback that builds confidence alongside skill
- Keep lessons structured and positive, appropriate to each student's age and temperament
- Coordinate with other instructors when a student's growth calls for it — theatre, dance, or Showcase Group involvement
Requirements
- Real experience teaching voice or performing — musical theatre, classical, contemporary, or any combination
- A music degree is preferred; strong stage and teaching experience will also be considered
- Comfort teaching all ages, including children — familiarity with childhood development is a plus
- Some background in stage presence, choreography, or performance coaching
- Strong classroom/lesson management skills, including with younger or nervous students
- A genuine interest in teaching the arts, not just performing them
