General Summary:
The Security Supervisor directly supervises and monitors the daily activities of the Constables, Controllers, Shift Leads, and Security Officers for all campuses with primary responsibility for their assigned shift. They may be assigned to either the Kent or Sussex Campus. This position also assists the Manager and Director in the management of the Public Safety Department, as assigned. This position reports directly to the Manager over their assigned site. As an experienced member of the Bayhealth Public Safety team this incumbent is responsible for ensuring the security, safety, and well-being of all Bayhealth Properties and individuals there within. Performance includes demonstration of the following competencies: demonstrates ownership, creates improvement and innovation, creates a work environment marked by pride/joy, builds bridges/collaborates, shows adaptability, shows integrity, and demonstrates trust. The incumbent is a leader within the department and over an assigned team. The incumbent is responsible for leadership functions to include scheduling, training, hiring, discipline, and mentoring. Their role is to implement tactics within their shift to ensure that the department and organizational missions are met. The Supervisor is required to understand and perform the functions of a security officer as necessary. During times of staff shortage or emergent situations overtime may become required.
Department team members are authorized to have limited access to secured medication rooms to perform duties and responsibilities as defined in this job description. Any staff member requiring limited access to secured medication rooms must have a fully completed and signed Medication Security Agreement for Non-Licensed Personnel form on file and available upon request.

Responsibilities:
- Directly supervises all Bayhealth Security Officers, Control Center Operators, Shift Leads, and Constables. Responsible for coordinating and monitoring security activities, ensures that all rounds and directives are maintained on all shifts, and assures schedules are followed.
- Ensures staff are trained to all duties of the job including but not limited to: monitoring the fire alarm system, the camera system, duress alarms, disaster equipment set up and location.
- Ensures that all staff adhere to the training standards of IAHSS, Department Training, Bayhealth Policies and Procedures.
- Completes performance evaluation for all assigned staff.
- Conducts interviews of applicants and orients new staff.
- Provide a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, staff.
- Ensures that 100% of required security inspections are complete.
- Reviews all Security incident reports, safety violations and shift logs for errors, content and completion. Report incidents and other pertinent information to the Manager and Director for review.
- Regularly conducts quarterly post checks and unit rounding. Briefing the Manager on any pertinent findings.
- Acts as senior Security representative during emergencies until relieved by the department manager or director. Ensures that notifications to appropriate hospital staff are made, and assign Security personnel to locations in the hospital to effectively handle the situation.
- Ensures detailed and organized records of all reports, data, corrective action forms, and CD-R’s are stored as required.
- Maintains established Bayhealth policies, to include the Public Safety Department procedures, objectives and Performance Improvement program.
- Vehicles/Equipment: a. Responsible for the Bayhealth vehicle fleet ensuring timely maintenance is performed and accurate records are maintained on each vehicle. b. Responsible for the control of locks and keys.
- Enforce all Delaware Criminal Laws as necessary for crimes committed while on Bayhealth Property and in conjunction with assigned duties.
- Attends the Security Department meetings as required.
- Submit written reports, investigate incidents, follow up investigations, observe/transport psychiatric patients, make recommendations to prevent and correct incidents.
- Must be able to successfully complete all required departmental training programs within required time frames. Training includes but is not limited to: Handcuffing Certification, Oleoresin Capsicum Certification, NAPPI De-Escalation Training, and IAHSS Certifications.
- All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Credential(s): Driver License and Driving Record Required. Must be 21 or older for insurance purposes. IAHSS Supervisor Certification within 6 months of hire.
- Experience: Required: 2 years of security or law enforcement experience.
- Education: Associate Degree-Associate Degree Criminal Justice Law
- Credential(s): Commissioned Constable
- Experience: Preferred: 3 years of hospital security experience, with 1 year of leadership experience.
