What are the responsibilities and job description for the US - Researcher (Entry) position at bayer?
This position is in the Precision Genomics Targeted Library Creation team. The candidates will be working collaboratively with a large production team of FTE’s and contractors to deliver daily and weekly genotyping targets under tight deadlines. Responsibilities include a variety of manual and automated tasks in the setup laboratories, as well as seed handling, checking in projects, and LIMS management.
Targeted Library Creation Team: The candidate will primarily be responsible for sample prep, manual DNA extraction (scooping and grinding), and Infinium prep for the HD Lab as well as seed and leaf check-in – all activities support our high-density genotyping platform. Responsibilities also include activities related to shipping & receiving, supply inventory management, and seed storage compliance.
The open role is for the following subteam/shift:
Targeted Library Creation Lab: Monday – Friday Day Shift (~8am – 4pm)
*Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
Desired skills for the ideal candidate:
1. Demonstrate reliability: This is a business-critical position to keep our lab running 7 days a week across multiple shifts. The candidate must be a reliable presence on this shift.
2. High Throughput/production/sample management: Our labs process millions of samples per year with fast turn-around times. Any experience handling a large number of samples daily (lab, etc.), or in a fast-paced environment (retail, food service, etc.) is a plus. Experience with LIMS or automation is a plus.
3. Automation/mechanical aptitude: The candidate must be comfortable running and troubleshooting automation independently with little guidance on this shift. Biologists with engineering/technical/mechanical aptitudes are encouraged to apply.
