Shift: 8‑Hour Shifts (Hours Vary)
Schedule: PRN
Status: Non‑Exempt | Remote Work: Hybrid

Role Overview
As a Genetic Counseling Assistant, you will provide essential support to the Genetic Counselor and help ensure smooth, efficient operations. You will manage referrals, coordinate scheduling, assist with patient follow‑up, maintain accurate documentation, and help facilitate communication between patients, providers, and laboratory partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Genetic Counselor with daily workflow and patient coordination
- Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments and referrals
- Obtain medical records, consents, and required documentation
- Assist patients with follow‑up needs and inquiries
- Enter and update patient information and results in tracking systems and EMR
- Upload and maintain documentation such as pedigrees, requisitions, and family letters
- Communicate with clinicians, counselors, patients, and external laboratories
- Coordinate follow-up with labs related to samples, documentation, and testing needs
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation across all systems
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education – Required
- High School Diploma or GED
Education – Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree (Science preferred)
- 1 year of related experience may substitute for bachelor’s degree
Experience
- Required: 1 year related experience (if no bachelor’s)
- Preferred: 1 year healthcare or medical-related experience
- Medical terminology knowledge preferred
