**MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE**
Job Summary:
Press Supervisors are expected to follow and support plant production, and safety requirements at all times. Press Supervisors are responsible for ensuring every project is printed efficiently, meets the expectations of the client, and is run at the required speed. Before production, operators inspect the machine and perform preventative maintenance when necessary. Operators monitor the equipment during the print run and troubleshoot any issues that arise, checking the product regularly for quality, waste, and run speed performance.
Press Supervisor Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set up the press to the specifications of each run.
- Oversee other Pressman as they operate the press, so they are maintaining speed and waste targets.
- Quality check the press to ensure performance to quality and production performance.
- Ability to produce a quality product while maintaining proper running speed and waste targets.
- Troubleshoot and correct printing or mechanical issues.
- Perform regular maintenance to prevent these issues.
- Record production data and process needs.
- Participate in the cleanup and the complete set up of the press providing education, training, and/or assistance as necessary.
- Communicate verbally with co-workers and management regarding work processes.
- Assist in performing duties of all other press jobs when necessary to cover for breaks and unexpected events.
- Assist in training co-workers on different functions within the pressroom. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and professionally with fellow press operators and personnel from related departments.
- LEADERSHIP: Must lead a multifaceted crew typically consisting of a Color Person, Roll Tender, and Stacker by delegating tasks per job including “PM” of the DGM and downstream equipment.
- Must understand and have working knowledge of the ancillary equipment (i.e., conveyors, 3 knife trimmer, stacker)
- Communicates verbally and in writing in a constructive, professional manner to improve performance and team.
- Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
- Must maintain a safe and organized work area.
- Press Supervisors must have the ability to always treat employees/co-workers fairly and respectfully.
Press Supervisor Requirements and Qualifications:
- Must understand oven temps and how it affects the print.
- Must be able to set tension as it relates to the reels & infeed.
- Must understand the DCOS system & the web printing process on the DGM 440 press.
- Strong supervisory and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced mechanical skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret and understand complex documents.
- Computer Literacy.
- Ability to stand, bend, climb, reach, and kneel repeatedly during production day.
- Must be able to properly plate and remove plates, remove and install blankets, and purge black and color ink rails.
- Competency in achieving ink and water balances, and density targets during press runs.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with management.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 45 – 55 per week
